Frequently Asked Questions

Where to find us this June

  • The festival is held right next to Punat, a small town on Croatia's island of Krk. The island is connected to the mainland by bridge, so you can drive straight there - no ferries involved.

The exact site is Medane Beach (map), a short walk from the town centre.

  • Got a question that's not covered here? Just drop us an email at info@surffestival.cc - we're happy to help!

  • Click here and jump into the group chat to coordinate travel, meet fellow attendees, and get answers to any questions you may have.

  • Travelling to Surf is easy. You can reach us by car, plane, or bus, with multiple travel options available. If you’re nearby, we encourage carpooling - BlaBlaCar is the go-to platform for this in Croatia.

By plane, the following airports offer convenient access:

    • Rijeka Airport (RJK) - on Krk Island 15 min

    • Pula Airport (PUY) 1 hr 30 min

    • Trieste Airport (TRS, Italy) 1 hr 45 min

    • Ljubljana Airport (LJU) 2 hr

    • Zagreb Airport (ZAG) 2 hr

By bus, you can take any domestic or regional bus to Rijeka, and from there there are plenty of connections to Punat. For detailed timetables check: flixbus.hr and arriva.com.hr

If you'd prefer to rent a car, rentalcars.com is a good place to compare options across all major suppliers.

If you need any additional info, have a tricky transfer or need any local-specific info or help, reach out via info@surffestival.cc or our socials - we might be able to help. Feel free to use this thread as an easy, message-board-style space to chat, and follow here for live updates

  • There will be a few ticket tiers as we approach the event. Each tier is limited, so if you’re considering joining us, we suggest you buy as soon as you’re ready. Programming is ambitious, and this helps us plan with more ease while keeping the price as affordable as possible.

  • Select ticket options include camping - the campsite offers shaded pine-tree plots, well-equipped washroom facilities, Wi-Fi and adheres to strict environmental standards.

For more detailed info and some photos to depict the vibe, see our dedicated camping page.

  • Punat and the wider Krk Island have plenty of options - hotels, apartments, and private rentals. A few ways to find them:

    International platforms: Booking.com · Airbnb.com · Vrbo.com

    Croatian platforms: adriatic.hr · apartmanija.hr · mojsmjestaj.hr · aurea-krk.com · adriagate.com · vista-travels.com

Direct from owner (no middleman fee): The Punat Tourist Board lists 400+ owners with direct contact: tzpunat.hr/private-accommodation - call or WhatsApp is preferred, as Croatian owners often favour phone over email.

You can also search Facebook groups: “Apartmani Krk”, “Smještaj Krk”, “Punat apartmani”.

Nearby alternatives to Punat: Kornić (5 km) · Krk town (10 km) · Stara Baška (10 km) · Baška (20 km)

    Tourist boards: krk.hr/en · tzpunat.hr/en

Unsure which option to go for? We might be able to help - reach out via info@surffestival.cc or our socials.

  • Upon arrival, please exchange your ticket for a full festival wristband at the box office. Tickets are not name-specific, but a valid ID is required for age verification. Entry is restricted to those 18 and over.

  • A range of food stalls will be on hand, covering different dietary preferences. Expect quality meals across the board. There are a number of restaurants (or ‘Konobas’) available in Punat. A quick search online will show these.

  • Surf Festival maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for any form of verbal, physical, or sexual abuse—whether directed at staff or fellow visitors. Recognizing and addressing such behavior is essential to fostering an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. If you experience or witness any unwanted behavior, please approach festival staff.

  • The safety of our visitors is something we take seriously, though in a place like this, it rarely needs much effort. Surf takes place in a small island town where most people are either locals or returning guests. No one ends up here by accident.

Whether you're staying at the campsite which is fenced, staffed, and attended around the clock, or in local accommodation, you're in good hands. This is a tight-knit, respectful community, and we'd love to keep it that way.

Should you at any point feel unsafe or see anything you’d like to report, reach out to one of our crew members - we’re here to help out!

Like anywhere else, our only ask is that you use your common sense and enjoy the island.

    • Please take responsibility for your own litter.

    • Dispose of cigarette butts responsibly — do not use the sea or beach as an ashtray.

    • Help us keep the beach clean at all times. Leave no trace.

    • Please use the on-site toilets rather than any public spaces.

    • Behave respectfully at the festival site and in the town — let’s avoid causing nuisance or damage to the neighbourhood and surrounding nature.

  • If you come across any lost items, please drop them off at the festival entrance/ticket checkpoint. If you’ve misplaced something, leave your details with the staff so they can reach out if it turns up.

  • A number of taxi companies operate across Krk, offering reliable 24-hour service.

Some of the options can be found here: Taxi 1, Taxi 2, Taxi 3

We are not affiliated with any of the listed companies and do not receive any commission; these are simply publicly available taxi services operating across the island of Krk.

  • All visitors attend the festival at their own risk and are expected to take responsibility for their personal safety. Each individual is also responsible for their belongings.

The promoter “Umjetnička organizacija više manje zauvijek” accepts no liability for lost or damaged property. This includes any incidents involving theft, injury, damage caused by third parties, or breaches of Croatian law occurring during the festival.

  • In case of on-site medical emergencies, please head immediately to our on-site medical/welfare tent. We strongly recommend asking a friend to escort you. There are areas to sit and relax if you don’t feel well, and medically trained staff available to assess you if necessary.

If you are in need of a pharmacy, there are several in Punat and nearby on Krk island. If you require a hospital, the closest is in Rijeka, approximately 1 hour away from Punat by car. Please make sure you bring your passport with you to the hospital. We strongly advise that you come with comprehensive travel insurance.
