the festival starts long before you arrive.

We’re thrilled to be able to invite you to the second edition of Surf.

Our first edition was kind of year zero, with everything built in less than seven months - which was wild and exhausting. The learning curve is steep, but you can move through it at lightning speed - you just need to put on the first edition.

So why choose Surf over the dozens of other festivals popping up every year?

We’ve put together a programme with some of the most exciting independent artists heading into the festival season. We look for artists who don’t underestimate their listeners, the labels and collectives that help them do that, and we champion acts who make a difference in their communities. Expect all of that and so much more - for this edition we’ve managed to confirm some of the acts that you can’t really catch in this type of setting.

The festival has 4 stages, and the whole site is walkable in 5 minutes. If you meet someone - you’ll run into them at one of the stages, then at the boat party, then at 5 AM at the unofficial afters at the spot next to the beach... With this kind of limited capacity we keep Surf stress free and special.

Someone left this comment on the (amazing) ‘No Tags’ podcast Substack:

“My personal take on what makes a festival a festival, rather than a series of gigs, is the extent to which it takes you out of everyday life / the capitalist treadmill. Gigs happen outside office hours, in (mostly) central locations, they’re designed to fit around other responsibilities; festivals carve out their own space, and to greater or lesser extent build their own little social structure to exist in temporarily. ”

Subscribe to our newsletter via the homepage as we’d love to pay as little as possible to Meta. We answer just to each other and to the crowd that gives us the chance to throw them a good time. That freedom is absolutely amazing, but getting things over the line financially is increasingly difficult. Buying tickets early goes a long way. As for the newsletter, you’ll hear from us only when we have something important to say.

We also understand how challenging rising costs can be, so we’ll be introducing instalment payments and volunteering tiers to help make the festival more accessible, while giving you a chance to get involved and reduce some of your costs along the way. More on that in the coming weeks.

For now, remember that the festival starts long before you arrive - give yourself something to look forward to. This might sound like a stretch mid-October, but summer is always around the corner.

See you in June on the island.
